DAY 8: NEAR 209 MILE RAPID TO DIAMOND CREEK, MILE 225

We are up early for our last breakfast on this trip.  Breakfast is bacon and eggs.  Cliff wants us to leave a little early so there won't be any problems at Diamond Creek.  Before we leave, everyone is required to put all their stuff from their large and small dry bags into a separate cloth bag.

We pass Pumpkin Springs at mile 213.  People used to swim in the spa-like enclosure until they found out that the water there is some of the most toxic in the entire Grand Canyon.

We head on down the River and are getting close.  When you get to Diamond Peak, you know you are close.

Diamond Creek is owned and operated by the Hualapai Tribe.  After everyone is off the boat, a tribal worker puts our cloth bags into the back of his truck.  We all get into a tribal bus while our crew takes the rafts to Pearce Ferry.  The tribal bus makes the drive to the top.  It is rough and bouncy.  In two hours we reach the top and Peach Springs.  We then get our cloth bags out of the tribal truck and get on the same nice bus we used to go from Flagstaff to Lee's Ferry.  It is another two hours until we reach the motel in Flagstaff.
