Breakfast this morning is Mexican Omelets, pineapple, tomatoes, and guacamole. We push off at 7:45. Our first stop of the day is Shinumo Creek and Falls. Everyone puts on their water gear and we make our way to the falls.
We leave Shinumo Creek and Falls at 8:45. Our next stop is Elves Chasm at mile 117. This is one of the prettiest places in the entire Grand Canyon. I have been here several times, so I stay at the boats. On my 2009 raft trip, Keith Beaty and I went to the back of the falls, climbed to the top, and jumped off. Needless to say, our guides were not pleased with us. Pictures from prior hikes are below:
We stop for lunch at 11:30 at Blacktail Canyon, mile 120.5. After lunch the group walks to a small pond at the very back of the canyon. Cliff then plays the guitar and sings for us.
We leave Blacktail Canyon at 2:00 and motor down the River until reaching Bedrock Rapid at mile 131. We see numerous Bighorn Sheep on our trip.
There is a large rock right in the middle of the River. Everybody gets out of the rafts. We watch Cliff shoot the rapid to see if he can make the abrupt right turn before the current pulls him into the big rock. Everything works out well. Bec then successfully makes the run also.
Everybody gets back on the rafts and we continue downstream to Stone Creek, mile 132.5, for the night. Supper is chicken and salad.
