Keith Beaty and I have a permit
starting tomorrow for a New Hance - Tonto - Grandview hike. When we
meet at the South Rim and check the weather, we find that the
temperature at the River tomorrow is forecast to be 100 degrees plus.
Nothing about that sounds like fun to us, so we visit the Backcountry
Office and change our permit for two nights on Horseshoe Mesa later in
the week. Those extra few days allow us to do a Dripping Springs -
Waldron day hike (our
trip report) tomorrow and for the temperatures to moderate a little
later in the week.
