The Uncle Jim Trail begins on the east end of the North Kaibab Trail parking lot.  The first half-mile is identical to the Ken Patrick Trail and heads east overlooking Roaring Springs Canyon.  The trail is easy walking and has a few ups and downs.  When you reach the Uncle Jim - Ken Patrick Trail branch sign, turn right.  The trail gets a little easier walking as the mule rides to not go on this section.  The trail heads slightly downhill for a while, turns left for a ways, and then gradually heads uphill before reaching the trail loop point.  You can do the loop in either direction.  If you turn right at the loop point, you will climb gradually through aspen and pine trees until you reach Uncle Jim Point.  Walk a few hundred feet to the southeast and you are treated to great views of Roaring Springs Canyon, the inner Canyon, and the point where the North Rim Lodge sits.  Continue on the loop to the east and then north and you will eventually walk by Bright Angle Canyon.  The loop then turns back to the west and you reach the loop branch point.  Continue back to the trailhead the same way you came.
