The Grandview Trail starts at Grandview Point, about twelve miles east of Grand Canyon Village. The trail descends rapidly via numerous switchbacks, curves around, and eventually levels out just before reaching Horseshoe Mesa. There is no water on the Grandview Trail or on Horseshoe Mesa. Water is always available at Miners Spring, also called Page Springs, on the east side of the mesa and sometimes at Cottonwood Creek on the west side of the mesa. Both of these water sources require a strenuous hike down and back to the mesa. Many portions of the Grandview are paved with stones, which make for a nice hiking surface. Peter Berry mined copper from the Last Chance Mine on Horseshoe Mesa a hundred years ago and hauled the ore to the rim with mules. There are still numerous mining artifacts on the mesa. Another popular side trip on the mesa is to explore Cave of the Domes on the west side of the mesa. Click here for a trip report on this trail.
